Some Points that need to be properly documented

Plugins -> direct access to Application and MainWindow, not intented for a specific purpose (filter, ...); plugin has init function that should "install" the plugin into the application
Plugins: called AFTER main window is created, ONLY in INTERACTIVE (gui) mode.
Have a look at example plugins: skin and systrayicon in the klatexformula source package (in klatexformula/src/plugins/) and klftoolbarplugin provided stand-alone at http://sourceforge.net/projects/klatexformula/files/klatexformula-plugins/ .
